Background

The District’s Administrative Code, Article 7, Section 3.713, provides that surplus personal property having an individual, fair market value of $15,000 or greater, shall be presented to the Board of Directors with recommendations for disposal.  Currently, the District’s Mechanical Services department has identified four separate assets (Caterpillar G-379 stationary engines) for disposition which, subject to the final selling price, may exceed the $15,000 threshold.

 

As shown in the table below, based on the age, condition, and current market for this type of equipment, anticipated selling prices range between $5,000 and $20,000, per item.

Additionally, the equipment shown in the following table is also scheduled for surplus disposition in coordination with the aforementioned sale.  These items are each anticipated to sell between $2,500 and $10,000.  While the five pieces of equipment do not themselves meet Administrative Code requirements for Board authorization, they are included as informational and additionally recommended for surplus declaration.

Subject to Board approval, the items identified in the tables above will be made publicly available and noticed for sale through the District’s on-line tool for surplus disposition and sold in accordance with established procedures.
